It’s always exciting to see the first Rainier cherries show up at the farmers’ markets around here—the first ones off the trees look so fresh and beautiful!
You don’t need a lot of lavender to get the essence in overnight oats—just a teaspoonful will do. This is my favorite one.
If you wish, you can make this several days ahead of time—the mixture will keep for about 4 days. So, if you are one to eat oatmeal every day, you can prepare this for the better part of a week! That’s a real timesaver.
I prepared the lavender milk by making a full cup ahead of time—I also used part of it in my coffee since I love that combination.
Overnight Oats with Lavender & Cherries
For Each Serving
- ½ cup milk, any kind
- ½ tsp dried culinary lavender
- ½ cup rolled oats
- ¼ cup Greek yogurt
- 1-2 Tbsp honey, maple, or agave syrup
- Pinch of sea salt
- ½ cup sliced pitted cherries
- ¼ cup toasted slivered almonds
Prepare the milk before:
Add one teaspoon of culinary lavender per cup of milk into a coverable container and allow it to steep in the refrigerator.
The evening before you want to eat overnight oats, combine ½ cup of the infused milk with the oats, yogurt, honey, and sea salt in a jar or bowl. Cover and allow to chill overnight.
When you are ready to eat, uncover the container and stir in the cherries and almonds. You can add more milk and honey if you wish.
